Charting Their Course to Switzerland, Setting Sail on a New Journey— Management Department Hosts Pre-Departure Symposium for Graduates

Exciting news has arrived from the Management Departments Sino-SwissJoint Education Program! JIANG Yuyang and LIU Zhen have been admitted to the undergraduate program at the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons (FHGR),our partneruniversity, recognizing their excellent academic performance and well-rounded competencies. Meanwhile, WANG Junyu and HUANG Chuhan have secured placements to continue their undergraduate studies at the Swiss Hotel Management School (SHMS). These four students are now set to begin their overseas education, pursuing their academic and professional goals on a global stage.



To help them adapt to life abroad and ensure a successful transition, the Management Department held a special pre-departure symposium titledPre-Departure Guidance and Cross-Cultural Adaptation on June 18 at 3:30 PM in Room 504 of theLibrary. The event was attended by Department Party Branch SecretaryMr.LIU Jianhua, DepartmentDirector Prof. YANG Shuqin, DeputyDirectorMs.HUANG Xinyi, CounselorMs.WU Xuehui, and Business English instructorsMs.WANG Yang andMs.GUAN Chenyin. Together, they offered valuable insights into adapting to overseas life, strengthening academic skills, and navigating cross-cultural communication---preparing the students with confidence and practical support for the journey ahead.



Prof. YANG opened by congratulating the students. She highlighted that studying abroad extends beyond academics---it is also an opportunity to develop a cross-cultural perspective. Referring to the distinctive features of Swiss higher education, she underscored the importance of self-directed learning and critical thinking, urging students to welcome new challenges. Ms.HUANG provided useful tips about living in Switzerland---from safety and health insurance to settling into the local community---enabling the students to gain a clearer understanding of their future schools. Mr.LIU, speaking from the standpoint of ideological awareness and cultural confidence, encouraged students to stay open-minded in a multicultural setting while proudly representing Chinese culture and upholding the values of Chinese youth.

Ms.WU, Ms.WANG andMs.GUAN gave practical advice on day-to-day matters such as housing, transportation, food, shopping, and language learning. Their guidance helped the students form a realistic picture of life in Switzerland and set meaningful goals.

The students also shared their thoughts during the discussion. They expressed that studying abroad is not only about gaining knowledge, but also about personal growth and responsibility. They promised to make the most of this opportunity---deepening their expertise, expanding their global outlook, and preparing thoroughly for their future careers.

This symposium reflects the Management Department’s commitment to student-centered education, creating a strong bridge from domestic learning to international experience. We will continue to support its students abroad and use these insights to further refine its talent development strategies and strengthen its international programming.
