World Bank Education Sector Delegation Visits the College for Research and Exchange

On the afternoon of November 13, 2025, Wang Di, Executive Director of the China (Shanghai) Research Center for the World Skills Competition, led a 4-member delegation of foreign guests from the World Bank's Education Sector, including Scherezad Latif, Waly Wane, Roberta Bassett, and Xiaonan Cao, to visit the college. They held exchanges with Xiao Qian, Vice President of the college, Chen Yaqiong, Director of the College Office, Bian Weihua, Section Chief of the Academic Affairs Section, Li Houjia, Director of the Department of Manufacturing Engineering, Liu Jianhua, Secretary of the Party General Branch of the Department of Management, Zhang Ke, Director of the Basic Teaching Department, Ning Zongqi, Deputy Director of the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and Yao Huiying, International Exchange Specialist. The meeting was chaired by Vice President Xiao Qian.


 


Prior to the meeting, the guests visited two open training centers of the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, namely "Mechatronics" and "Robot Technology", as well as the World Skills Competition "Industrial Control" project base. Subsequently, they visited the "Shanghai High-level Open Training Center for Advanced Forming Technology" of the Department of Manufacturing Engineering and the World Skills Competition "Additive Manufacturing" project base, and observed the students' virtual simulation operation process on site. They spoke highly of the college's training mode for applied technical talents.



After the visit, the two parties held a discussion and exchange in the seminar room on the 3rd floor of the Graphic Information Center. During the exchange, the World Bank representatives had in-depth discussions with the college's participants on issues such as balancing the gender ratio of students in engineering majors and promoting the alignment of talent training in engineering and technical fields with market demands. The World Bank side stated that the delegation had gained substantial insights during their visits to Chinese colleges and universities, which would provide valuable inspiration for promoting in-depth cooperation and project development between education sectors in African regions and Chinese colleges and universities.

At the end of the meeting, Vice President Xiao Qian presented souvenirs to the World Bank representatives, expressing the hope that there would be opportunities for deeper exchanges and exploration of cooperation with vocational colleges in countries under the jurisdiction of the World Bank's Education Sector in the future, so as to jointly promote exchanges and development in the field of vocational education between China and African countries.
