上海市高级技工学校是一所面向先进制造业和现代服务业的国家级重点技工学校、上海市现代化标志性中等职业技术学校、上海市高技能人才培训基地、上海市首批职业技能等级认定社会培训评价组织，具有学历教育、职业技能认定、职业技能培训三大功能。
Shanghai Advanced Technical School is a national key technical school aimed at advanced manufacturing and modern service industries, a modern landmark secondary vocational and technical school in Shanghai, a training base for high skilled talents in Shanghai, and one of the first social training and evaluation organizations for vocational skill level recognition in Shanghai. It has three major functions: academic education, vocational skill recognition, and vocational skill training.
学校的前身为创建于1951年的上海市失业工人救济委员会第二、第三机械制造训练班；1956年，分别改名为上海市劳动局第三、第二工人技术学校；1959年，再次分别更名为上海市劳动局第二、第三技工学校；1998年，经上海市劳动和社会保障局批准，在上海市劳动局第二高级技工学校、第三高级技工学校的基础上合并成立上海市高级技工学校；2003年，经上海市人民政府批准，上海市高级技工学校整体划入上海工程技术大学，与上海工程技术大学高等职业技术学院共处逸仙路88号（大柏树）校园。
The predecessor of the school was the second and third mechanical manufacturing training classes established by the Shanghai Unemployed Workers Relief Committee in 1951; In 1956, it was renamed as the Third and Second Workers' Technical Schools of Shanghai Labor Bureau respectively; In 1959, it was renamed as the Second and Third Technical Schools of the Shanghai Labor Bureau, respectively; In 1998, with the approval of the Shanghai Labor and Social Security Bureau, the Shanghai Advanced Technical School was merged and established on the basis of the Second and Third Advanced Technical Schools of the Shanghai Labor Bureau; In 2003, with the approval of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, the Shanghai Advanced Technical School was integrated into Shanghai University of Engineering and Technology, and co located with the Higher Vocational and Technical College of Shanghai University of Engineering and Technology at No. 88 Yixian Road (Da Baishu) campus.
学校设有机电工程系、制造工程系、管理系、基础教学部和继续教育部5个系部，共开设专业15个（中本教育贯通专业1个、中高职教育贯通专业7个）；其中：上海市高水平专业2个，上海市级示范性品牌专业2个，上海市级精品特色专业2个，上海市现代学徒制试点专业2个，获批上海市优质专业建设2个。构建了“数字化先进成型技术”“智能制造技术”和“现代服务业”三大高水平专业群，其中：“数字化先进成型技术”“智能制造技术”2个专业群获批上海高水平专业群建设。
The school has 5 departments including Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Management, Basic Education, and Continuing Education, with a total of 15 majors offered (1 major for connecting primary and secondary education, and 7 majors for connecting secondary and higher vocational education); Among them, there are 2 high-level majors in Shanghai, 2 demonstrative brand majors at the city level, 2 boutique characteristic majors at the city level, 2 modern apprenticeship pilot majors in Shanghai, and 2 high-quality majors approved for construction in Shanghai. We have established three high-level professional groups, namely "Digital Advanced Forming Technology", "Intelligent Manufacturing Technology", and "Modern Service Industry". Among them, two professional groups, "Digital Advanced Forming Technology" and "Intelligent Manufacturing Technology", have been approved for the construction of high-level professional groups in Shanghai.
学校现有专任教师139人，其中：硕博率占比60%，高级职称占比23%，双师型教师占比60%，高级工及以上人员占比73%，全国职业院校技能大赛优秀指导教师、金牌指导教师10余人，市级教学团队8支，市级技术能手（技能人才培育突出贡献个人）3人，市级教学名师2名，市级名师工作室3个，市级技能大师工作室2个，获评“四有”好教师（教书育人楷模）提名奖1人，指导学生在世界技能大赛、全国职业技能大赛、全国职业院校技能大赛、上海市“星光计划”大赛等各级各类竞赛中屡获大奖。
There are currently 139 full-time teachers in the school, including 60% with master's and doctoral degrees, 23% with senior professional titles, 60% with dual teacher qualifications, 73% with senior workers and above. There are more than 10 outstanding and gold medal guidance teachers in the National Vocational College Skills Competition, 8 municipal teaching teams, 3 municipal level technical experts (individuals with outstanding contributions to skill talent cultivation), 2 municipal level teaching masters, 3 municipal level teacher studios, and 2 municipal level skill master studios. One person has been nominated for the "Four Haves" good teacher (teaching and education model) award, guiding students in the World Skills Competition, National Vocational Skills Competition, National Vocational College Skills Competition, and Shanghai.
