At the invitation of FHGR, 4 teachers of Sino-Swiss Joint Program left on July 9th, 2023 to participate in the training at Samedan Summer School, Switzerland.
The training team was led by Chen Guorong. Yang Shuqin, Zhang Ke and Guan Chenyin participated. The training mainly includes four courses, "Tourism Digital Marketing", "Scientific Research Paper Writing", "Service Management" and "Statistics". 4 teachers need to attend lectures and give feedback after class. The training also included field studies in Samedan, Chur and St Moritz. This training aims at in-depth learning of the Swiss vocational education system, and a comprehensive understanding of the talent training methods, curriculum setting and development, teaching methods, theoretical teaching and practical teaching distribution and development, classroom organization, teaching effect and teaching quality evaluation, student management and other contents of the tourism management major of FHGR.
During the two weeks in Samedan Summer School, 4 teachers participated in in-class lectures and after-class feedback activities, and had a more practical understanding of FHGR's education system, teaching design, teaching methods, and student characteristics. Professor Alexander Fritsch's full use of the Moodle platform is impressive, using the power of science and technology to form an interactive connection with students before, during and after class, and the whole course revolves around a project task to mobilize students' practical enthusiasm in a small but concentrated way. Professor Barbara Hoffmann's class broke people's previous cognition of "research paper writing" as boring and boring. A large number of videos interspersed to lively the class atmosphere, and rich group activities were both educational and entertaining. Professor Michael Kauer is humorous and has many interactive discussions, so that students can easily and effectively grasp the key points and difficulties, and then apply them to case studies. In Professor Marc Herter's course Statistics, the output of knowledge points is more concentrated than more, which also makes us deeply realize the interest and function of data analysis and the learning significance of tourism students. Each teacher's classroom has its own characteristics, but all of them let us truly appreciate the advantages of small class teaching, student-centered, practice over theory and so on, which is worth learning. We believe that in our future teaching, teachers should also pay attention to the design of teaching content, and be able to fully use the power of science and technology in teaching methods, and at the same time, according to the characteristics of vocational college students, more diversified into practical teaching.
During the research and exchange in Samedan, Chur and St. Moritz, we felt the friendliness of local people, and the excellent qualities of the Swiss people such as efficiency, environmental protection and integrity. We also experienced the current development of the Swiss tourism industry, and were deeply impressed by its tourism infrastructure, especially the developed, convenient and humanized characteristics of railway facilities. During our campus visit, we saw the powerful and "comfortable" and "convenient" features of the online resources of the library, and saw the care and care of the International Student Affairs Center for the Chinese students we sent over. During the communication with Andreas Deuber, Director of FHGR International Cooperation Department, we all expressed our happiness and blessings for the 10th anniversary of Sino-Swiss Joint Program, and also proposed further ideas for follow-up cooperation. It is hoped that the perfect end of this training will take the opportunity to promote the depth and breadth of future faculty exchange and cooperation between SUES and FHGR.
