"Ten Years in the Making, Crafting Artisanal Persons" 2023 marks the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the Numerical Control Technology (middle and high vocational through) program at our college. On March 1, Vice Dean Xiao Qian, along with Li Houjia, Director of the Manufacturing Engineering Department, Vice Director Zhou Libo and Director of the Teaching and Research Office Cao Zhihong, visited Baoshan Vocational School to attend the Numerical Control Technology Middle and High Vocational Through Education Joint Conference. They discussed how to adapt the numerical control technology middle and high vocational through program to the new requirements of vocational education development, how to improve the middle and high through education training system, continuously improve the quality of teaching, and better serve the economic development of the social region. They also invited Tang Yongsheng, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office of Shanghai University of Engineering Science, to guide the meeting. Qiu Lihui, Secretary of the Party Committee of Baoshan Vocational School, Principal Chen Lin, Vice Principal Gu Qiufang, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office Zhou Xianzhong, Head of the Mechanical Manufacturing Department Cai Yiping, Deputy Director of the Moral Education Office Wang Mi, and Liang Rong of the School-Enterprise Class attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Gu Qiufang, Vice Principal of Baoshan Vocational Technical School. The two sides reviewed and summarized their work mechanisms, management systems, and operating models over the past decade, and planned and anticipated the next stages of development.
Cai Yiping, Head of the Mechanical Manufacturing Department of Baoshan Vocational School, gave a summary report of the Numerical Control Technology Middle and High Vocational Through program over the past decade on behalf of the school. The pilot training program for Numerical Control Technology Middle and High Vocational Through education, a collaborative effort between the Vocational College of Shanghai University of Engineering Science and Baoshan Vocational Technical School, was approved by the Municipal Education Commission in early 2013, and welcomed its first batch of students in September the same year. Over the past decade, the program has enrolled a total of 418 students, with five graduating classes now in the workforce or continuing their studies at the undergraduate or graduate level.
Li Houjia, Director of the Manufacturing Engineering Department of the Vocational College, detailed the cooperation between the two schools in optimizing teaching implementation plans, curriculum development, and teacher team construction. He proposed constructive solutions for the future development of numerical control majors in the group of digital advanced forming technology majors, the implementation of teaching and examination separation, the construction of high-level major groups, and apprenticeship training.
Vice Dean Xiao Qian of the Vocational College highly praised Baoshan Vocational School's excellent practices in through-training education, fully affirmed the achievements of through-training, and pointed out the work goals for the two schools to further deepen cooperation, strengthen communication, and deepen the construction of professional connotations.
Chen Lin, Principal of Baoshan Vocational School, pointed out that the Numerical Control Technology Middle and High Vocational Through program has received full support from the Vocational College throughout the course of its operation, establishing docking mechanisms at all levels, timely communication, extensive contact, and comprehensive guidance, which have steadily promoted the development of the school's professional construction. The numerical control major is a brand of Baoshan Vocational School. Ten years is a summary, but more importantly, it is a vision for the future.
Tang Yongsheng, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office of the Engineering University, affirmed the school's comprehensive implementation of the "Regulations for the Management of Through-Training Pilot Programs" between Shanghai University of Engineering Science and the comprehensive and scientific teaching management and improvement of teaching quality. He hoped that the school could summarize the ten years of experience in middle and high through education, take "quality of education" as the focus, further improve management systems, optimize supervision mechanisms, improve the effectiveness of education, and make greater contributions to through education.
After ten years of hard work and dedicated cultivation, we believe that the Numerical Control Technology (middle and high vocational through) program of the two schools will achieve even greater success in the near future.
